How nice it must be to be able to reduce complex issues to one paragraph rah-rah-rationalizations to justify the many conflicts and wars that this country has been involved in.
Unfortunately for me, after serving six years in the military (including four on a Staff Command as an Analyst), followed by six years studying History as a major in college (where I also dabbled in Anthropolgy, Linguistics, and Psychology, and other such subjects), I no longer have the luxury or the right to see the world purely in black and white.
Bundled and nuzzled by the liberal media (yeah right), it is easy to forget that we helped train, arm and put into power many of the people and countries that you mentioned, from Noriega to the Taliban, to Saddam and even to Osama bin Laden. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.
Pardon me if my blood boils when we kill in the name of non-existent WMDs, or the government operates secret torture camps with my tax dollars. When I was a kid, I was told and believed that only the bad guys do such things.
Too often many people in this country that supposedly loves freedom and cherishes free speech are quick to attack any voice of dissent, and label people as supporting the enemy or worse, when in fact the person may simply be trying to have an alternative viewpoint considered.
