You'd be surprised. Remember the "Twinkie" defense in the 70s... a man beat a double murder case because he claimed his high blood sugar (aggravated by Twinkies) drove him nutz temporarily.
In this case though, '"crack" is cheaper than cash' defense won't work because it doesn't negate an element of the crime.
