this seems like a pretty common thing. I read an article awhile back where a guy that won a huge amount in a lottery had 600K in cash stolen out of his car. Who the hell carries around 600K in cash and leaves it in their car? He also ran through a lot of this. I think that the people that take the lump sum payouts see this huge amount and they think it will never run out so they spend like crazy then a couple of years later they are out of cash.

On a sadder note. I used to work with a guy that told me about a co-worker of his. one day the guy didn't show up for work. They called him and he didn't answer the phone or return calls. For three days they don't hear anything from him or about him. Then he shows up and tells them the reason he didn't come in was that he won the lottery. He had a new car and was buying a new house and took everyone he worked with out to lunch. They were all happy for him and little bit jealous. then a few weeks later they found out that he had killed himself. It seems he had not won the lottery, but had convinced himself that he had. he bought all this stuff he could now not afford and was so depressed over having not won that he killed himself.
