About 5 years ago 60 Minutes did a segment on Finland. I had no idea Finns were this shy - the whole story was about Finland national character of being so reserved and shy. That there are even government programs concerned because many Finnish young people are too shy to find girlfriends/boyfriends and create the next generation of Finns. Finns supposedly don't like to make
eye contact with people in pubic, not much smiling or other public displays of emotion. I think there is also a higher incidence of depression there.

It was a very strange story. And it wasn't all from an American news program's point of view, they interviewed many Finns themselves including psychiatrists etc who backed up the facts of the story.

Seemed like Finns are like depressed Swedes. And Swedes aren't all that fun loving either. Both are good peoples though just must be raised by tradition to be self conscious and reserved emotionally.
