PimpLink--
Both Connerly and Steele benefited directly from the policies they seek to overturn now. In Steele's case, folks have quite a different memory of him as an undergraduate, in terms ideals and his opportunism. Oddly enough his critics include his twin brother (also extremely well educated--I believe a prof at Stanford). In Connerly's case, there was an interesting article in the New Yorker serveral years ago regarding an initmate dinner party where he was the guest of honor. As far as D'Souza, then you know the stunts he pulled in his Dartmouth days to get publicity.

The common denomenator--all of these fellows like the fame and fortune their political ideals bring them. In this regard their minority status contributes greatly to their current fame.

Their ethnicity is what makes their positions notable.

Perhaps my objectivity is tainted by my disdain for the public pseudo-intellectuals, who rush out books to support political agendas.
