On Monday, Trevor Hoffman made the following comment: I'd like to be the one to close it for the National League. If it comes down to the ninth inning, I sure hope it's me.

Yup, that's a real quote, and Trevor got his wish. Then Hoffman served up the hits that produced the winning runs to the American League, allowing the National League to build it's losing streak to ten years.
You know who had to be really pissed? David Wright. The dude hits 16 home runs in the first round of the home run derby the night before, but then stumbled (only two dingers in the second round) and came in second.
Then tonight Wright hits the only home run in the game, giving his team the lead, and his team was just one out away from winning, all but assuring Wright the prize of a new Chevy Avalanche as the All Star Game MVP, but instead the American League steals the win and David Wright's keys.
Sports can be brutal.
Better luck next year National League...
