There are many stem cell forms in the body. ONE of them is the embryonic stem cell. Bush will veto this bill already passed by the House. The Bill pushes for more research into embryonic stem cells. Mind you the stem cell technologies are revolutionizing the entire medical field:
Blind are seeing
Crippled are walking
Heart patients are up and dancing
Burn victims getting their own skin to grow back and be replaced rapidly
Paralyzed walking
Multiple Sclerosis people healed
Alzheimer's & Parkinson's disease patients experiments showing awesome promise
Diabetes being cured
Hepatitis diseases being treated
etc, etc, etc,
None of these needs embryonic stem cells! Just regular adult stem cells or umbillical cord stem cells.
Sure I can see Bush's
morality to play here and I agree 100%, BUT our enemies won't be so accomodating. They're using embryonic stem cells and everything else they can muster. The result? They're CURING people not sitting around DEBATING it. Mind you our allies are curing people too, making astounding breakthroughs!
The actions regarding this Bill will determine America's future in the medical business. We are so far behind other countries in some areas yet far ahead in others. Problem is we take forever to get around to doing anything. The last time there was a cure for something was Polio almost a century ago. Why? We didn't pump anywhere near the amount of money into polio as we've pumped into cancer and other diseases and all we come up with are highly expensive and often deadly treatments that require more expensive pharmaceuticals.
Something is wrong.
