Book as close to the shoot as possible, pick their asses up if you can, stay friendly with agents if you use them, and try to avoid those with boyfriends or suitcase pimps. Oh yeah strippers really suck.

This advice is spot on.
I know when I interview a girl, if I do not have her in a shoot within a week, my percentage of EVER getting her in one is at minimum cut in half. Most of the time I can never get ahold of them again, or they flake out. I guess too much time pondering it, or the BF talks 'em out of it.
If possible, avoid those with the boyfriends because you are going to get one of the following..
1. They will want to come.
2. They will want to come to all of them, and give you all their great money making ideas.
3. They will drool on all the girls, and you will be tripping over them all day during a shoot, or they will be talking, and shit in the background as you are filming.
4. They are controlling, posessive asshats who will always be throwing a tantrum or something the day of the shoot, and they will not show.
Never waste your time on strippers. If they do not try and "up" their payscale in the stripper barder. They treat and talk to you like you are some 'John" in their strip club. Like they can offer this, or talk you into this.. more money, less work, less time, or my personal favorite. Trying to tell you how you will be running a shoot.
I do not even waste my time interviewing them anymore. They are a complete waste of time. We have used them in the past when we first had gotten started, and maybe 20% were really worth anything, or showed up/on time in the first place. I have better odds with the college chicks, and those from a club, or referral.
Make sure you honest, and interview them upfront. There were times in the past where a girl working for us would refer their pal. I would just blindly let them come. Big mistake. Now I insist that I have a sit down at a public place of their choosing at a time and date they set before I
ever schedule them.
I do not know how you do photoshoots, but I can tell you that it's not a one man show for us. Plus we do a lot of paired, so we have to arrange multiple models, and photographers, and so on. So there is a considerable cost for setting one up. Planning for 2, 3, 5 girls and only getting half makes it problematic for two reasons.
1. You either have to overbook to try and plan for those NOT showing up. Then they all do and cost you a mint.
2. You end up short, and then have to do more shoots to get the sets you could have gotten in one full 5 person shoot. Again, more expensive.
However there is no formula. We have paid girls less, more, kept them longer, or shorter. Worked around their schedule, or forced them to ours. Gave bonuses, gift certificates, and so forth. Not any one thing has helped.
The best advice is to have money on hand so when you can get your most popular girls, and they need money, and come a calling you shoot and shoot and shoot, and get a stockpile of shit.
In the meantime, always be recruiting. Even if you do not need anyone. By the time you get around to doing a shoot. Half the girls will be busy, boyfriends, school, or any list of other excuses for not wanting to do it.
Shoot as much as you can, when you can get them. Always be collecting new models, and keep some money lying around so when you can get more of your favorites, you do it. Then she doesn't get popular later, and then you can never get her back, or you have long delays, etc.
The short version is that models will always flake. There are the exceptions, but on the whole that's just how this business is. Naked, or not. It's always a problem.
