If westerners had kept their noses out of other people's business many years ago, maybe we wouldn't be so hated by everyone else.
Blowing people up in the name of Allah, or God, or Buddha or whoever is absurd. Doing in the name of patriotism is absurd as well. I'm not in any way condoning this hostage taking. I'm just saying it is not religiously motivated.
Am I muslim? Nope. I was born Roman Catholic, but I'm agnostic.
I sympathize with the Palestinians as much as I sympathize with the Israelis. Actually, I don't really sympathize with either. I think that conflict is retarded (like the Chechnian conflict) and Palestinians and Israelis should be shipped to the North and South poles respectively.
I think anybody willing to give their life for a cause is dumb. And I think anyone hypocritically supporting one cause while ignoring another is dumb as well.
