Thank god it was only a minority so that jackass can't do too much damage. I think that Martin would have made a fine long term PM he was much more pro-US then most people will give him credit for, and he wasn't a raging jackass...

Sure we have lots of different parties, but if you were to really look at the system there are only 2 parties here. All the rest act as counter-balances. Like the NDP will never get strong foothold here, too many people throw around the word communism and leftist like it is a bad thing. The Bloc will never have support beyond Quebec because they only serve to further their own agenda. But in cases like this last election, thank god we have the NDP and the Bloc to help ensure a minority government for Harper.
