No great need to hide DD. After all, there is little doubt the CIA knew exactly where is was in July 2001 and also where he was on September 11th 2001.
In July 2001 there is no doubts he was in the American Hospital Dubai and visited by a CIA representative. That CIA rep departed Dubai one day after bin Laden was released from hospital. Odd meeting, considering bin Laden was already on a "wanted list" by the US.
On September 11th 2001 he was being treated at hospital in Pakistan - a hospital under the control of Pakistan Forces, but with close links to the Pentagon.
The US government were well-aware of bin Laden's treatment and on September 12th Colin Powell even instigated proceedings with Pakistan to have Osama arrested and extradited.
The hospitality of the US in caring for Osama is most gracious and little doubt he appreciates this
