Why is it always assumed that aliens would be superior? Because they figured out how to travel a long distance? What if they figured out how to travel in space but, for example, didn't know how to bake bread. Why is it also assumed that they must be more able to destroy us in a battle. Think about it, there would only likely be a few (probably 1) ship. With 6 billion folks on earth, i think we can take 'em. I don't think the ability to travel a long distance in space would mean, necessarily, that they are superior. They may just have a different/better fuel source, etc.
