IMHO, due to the current administration's foreign policy, we've already shown the world that you're not worthy of respect unless you have a nuke.
If I were the leader of a "sovereign" country with no bomb... especially one that is on the U.S.A.'s list referred to as the "Axis of Evil" (great diplomatic move that one was)... I might be thinking my nuclear program needs a kick-start, too.
Oh hell... at this point, it's just a bunch of political posturing to get us in Iran so we can further solidify our holdings in Asia to give the US a firmer basis for relating to China in the upcomming century.
