The reason you don't see a dog? A fucking cat killed it, ate it, and cleaned up the mess using highly concentrated bleach. Upon cleaning up the mess, the bleach started to make the cat feel a little woozy so it hurried and quickly vacated the scene but left one vital clue: A small tuft of its own hair caught on the window seal as it forced its way into the house. The cat will be caught eventually and made to pay for its crime against dogmanity.
