If that isn't just more emotive bullsh*t, prove it and have them prosecuted. People have no more and no less power than they ever had: votes and the right to state their opinions. Assuming that what you perceive as their wishes really are being ignored more today than in the past, that might be because far fewer people even bother to vote and politicians are exactly like the rest of us: if they can get away with cutting corners or pursuing their own agendas, they will.

Since I wouldn't know you from Adam and I'm not in the habit of attacking people for no reason, my post made no reference to what your personal political activities might or might not be. But your apparently active participation in the political process does not change the reality that you are in a tiny minority. Were that not the case, this thread might never have existed and at the very least we would be discussing the topic in different terms.
