See, I just don't agree with that rationale. Here's why: if I am going to marry someone, it is because of love (just like your gif says) and NOT because I want to milk the government for extra benefits. If someone wants the government to recognize their marriage only because they want to be able to take advantage of the monetary benefits, I think that's bullshit. Of course, I am also one of the only black men that you will ever meet that is against wellfare. If they truely just want the symbolism, why not just go down to the jewelers and pick out their wedding rings. The rings are the symbolism of the lasting love and union.
