Marriage has to aspects
A)religious. And if some religion doesn't believe gays should be married they are under no obligation to marry them.
B) legal. The government wants people to get married so they can collect a big fat fee for a marriage licence.

No one says that straight people HAVE to get married either. The legal reasons are beyond the "fat" fee that the government gets when you sign your marriage license. It also has to do with tax exemptions, medicare benefits, social security, and other privileges that married couples receive.
