Well, technically, that depends on how you look at it. If you wanted to go about it 100% correctly, you may be required to file for multiple licenses and permits (depending on your local and state laws). Do you need any of this to be able to run an online adult business? No, but technically you can drive a car without a valid Drivers License; doesn't make it 100% legit. A lot of times, in this new online age, many things get forgotten about, ignored, and overlooked.

For instance, if I decided that I was going to shoot pics of the models and develop the pics myself (to be sold, used for promotions, etc), then I am supposed to file for a "Photography - Photo Finishing" license with the State Comptroller (as required by Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission). The previous example may not apply whatsoever to what is going on here, but you get the point. A lot of Govt and State Agencies are even starting to adapt these categories to include online business. Honestly, the first place that I would advise anyone to start looking if you want to be completely legit and good to go is the SBA and their license hotlist:
