I don't know if you guys remember the old method they used many years ago before the class action lawsuit. They'd simply put you on hold for an hour or two. Most of the time people got so annoyed they'd just hang up (it was only $10/month or something at the time).

But that is how AOL works. They are relentless. Tons of stories of continuing to bill people over and over no matter if they cancel or not. The problem with the "save" route they have is that it gives incentive for their CS people to simply lie and say they saved you. They'll mark it as a save, give you 3 months free, then you'll be notified down the line you are being charged again.

One of the funnier things I had happen with them was a credit card declined (got a new one). Well they sent me a thing in the mail and I threw it out. 3 months later I got a collections letter saying I owed them $100 or whatever. They said they'd wipe out that charge if I called up and updated my card info. I laughed and threw it out.

AOL is a bunch of scumbags.
