If you have time and a good camcorder with night vision, I would catch him in the act. Just let him do it. Then go to his parents (assuming the kid will tell you where his friend lives) with a copy of the tape and tell them that they have this amount of time to pay for the damages before you go to the cops or get an attorney. Not only will they pay for it, he'll get his little ass beat (as long as he's not a white kid
). Not only do you get your shit back/damages covered, the kid also gets a 'legal' beating.
