I have "broken in" a few Australian Visa Cards,

Some card issuing banks seem to have their fraud prevention set higher than others for internet tranactions.

Some_idiot is correct about doing too many foreign charges to quickly,
Doing what you descibed raises a red flag on their system that the card details may have been comprised and to limit the banks exposure, the card is declined with all further charges for a day or so and their system monitors what happens within that period.

If after a few days the card is not reported stolen, any unusual charges been reported by the holder or any other problems, the card will start working again.
(With one of the banks i was using, their fraud prevention section contacted me by phone to verify that I had used my visa card at ....... and ...... and......., )
They did this twice and then that was it..

Once you build up a history slowly on that card for doing multiple internet transactions, you wont have too many problems unless you spend thousands per day with multiple suppliers, it will then halt the card for a few days again.
