There is an interesting film that has been on IFC or Sundance Channel lately about early HIV research on chimpanzees in the Congo (actually on Polio vaccine research but ended up being relative).

There is little actual evidence on the cause of AIDS and the link between HIV and AIDS. Whatever the cause and origins, if it is a government conspiracy (intentional or not), real evidence would never exist, they would never let it exist.
