Jen, it reads like you and your lucky hubby are having problems balancing content production, updates, maintenance, and the whole works. I can imagine this would be a tough burden especially with a growing site.

I think stickyfingerzdotnet has got it on the dot. Instead of looking to adding your site to a larger affiliate program (which I agree will be more of a headache down the line for you), you should really considering hiring someone part-time to look after everything else and have them lift some of the burden off of your and your hubby's shoulder.

Consider your site as a small business that you and your husband started (aside from this being obvious, bear with me here). When this small business grows to the point where you and your husband can't manage it all anymore without stress, this is when you expand by hiring your very first employee. This will give you 100% total flexibility as to the direction of your site.

If some affiliate program does talk you into joining their portfolio, make sure they settle on YOUR terms and not the other way around. Any affiliate program would be lucky to have your site as part of their portfolio.
