On the other hand, Gerrard was playing the holding midfield role for england. He gets ONE chance and tucks it away. Lampard had about 4 decent chances and missed them all !! You can't do that at international level.
Thats why I'd like to see Gerrard playing the attacking midfield role in the next match for england and Carrick playing the holding role for england which is his natural position !!
Lampard and Gerrard do NOT play well together for england, they play the same position and do NOT complement each other well.
When it comes push to shove I'd rather have Gerrard in the england team than Lampard

So Gerrard got lucky with one shot, doesn't change that Lampard was creating a lot more, as I said on any other day he'd put these away so it's not that he lacks the ability (no midfielder has scored more goals in the Premier League than he did last season). All Gerrard did yesterday apart from the goal was hoofing 40 yard passes. Don't forget in the European cup in Portugal Lamapard was Englands second scorer after Rooney. Lampard has in general been better for England than Gerrard, so I think it would be a huge mistake for them to drop him.
Besides if England had a decent manager Lampard and Gerrard would deffinately play well together. Either he should play 4-5-1 (with 2 wingers, a holding midfielder and Lamps and Steve in the center) or play attacking 4-4-2, not this boring midfield defensive struggle crap
