Thats normal. Anything over a 100,000 they put you through the ringer to make sure you aren't dieing and trying to screw them.

Anything over a million and they usually do a series of back ground checks and evaulate your "known associates".

You can be turned down for life insurance for hanging with the wrong crowd.


Side note: make sure the majority of your coverage is term. You can get 30 year-term policies that will cover alot. At age 65, you life insurance needs will be 1/10 of what they are now.
