I've not heard about anyone from South Carolina getting sued for candid photography, I'd keep researching it if I was you to be on the safe side.
You should speak to BV (Bikini Voyeur) he knows a lot about the laws for taking photos in public
My understanding is that every state in america has its own set of laws for candid photography
