have you ever considered that when you translate the name of this country into your language that the full title is the entire name of the country, and the "of America" is NOT simply referring to the continent of north america (in which case they would have somehow 'forgotten' to place the word 'North' in the title for the past 200+ years)?
believe me, it is not named "country of continent". the only other people arguing this point are a couple of brits who seem like they're still pissed off over the revolutionary war that was fought in 1776. there aren't many british that feel that way but there are some, they are the same as the ignorant rednecks we have in this country that still consider the confederacy a part of their government.

actually Canada is comprised of several provinces (the equivalent of 'states' in their government) yet they do not refer to themselves as "Canada of (North) America" either
