It's not uncommon for the sufferer to lie about personal issues, especially aspects which may enhance false credibility and personal "status" as already evidenced in this instance.
Any statement made by others which could be percieved as criticism, immediately draws out this "learned hatred" and the sufferer jumps into attack mode in an effort to defend - or resorts to attempted abuse. Any thought processes and logic are blocked during this period.

Blah, blah, blah. FYI, I am not a hater. You I do not like, but your daily bashing (expressed hatred) of America, is an irritant and an irritant is not worthy of hatred.
