a big yawwwwn to that video, but it did inspire some thoughts...
the michigan militia will love this piece. its nice the director speaks to the people by using the colloquial 'they'. Everytime some intelligent person uses 'they' to describe who they're talking about I find myself hanging on every word that follows. i also liked the edit job they did when the one gentleman was describing who runs the banks, seems they probably had to cut out his popular opinion on that subject.
if theres no law saying americans have to pay personal income tax maybe there should be? income tax makes sense to me. it would likely benefit the bigger fans of this documentary more than the people who pay the majority of it.
im not american but the use of 'freedom' by americans to describe america has always bothered me. it makes me wonder if those who use it think they live in a completely free society, or if they're anarchists and want to live in a completely free non society. in my country i can appreciate my paying taxes, the portion of it that is not mispent goes to keeping me as healthy as possible and ensures me if Im murdered or beaten to retardation the person(s) who did it will likely be imprisoned for a length of time. i wouldnt have this guarantee if i lived in a truly free country, like somalia.
ive personally never had a problem with wiretapping. if my government feels the need to listen to me order pizza and chat with friends and family about the inconsequential Im really not too concerned. the minute i start up a terror cell or start trading in illegal child porn maybe ile change my mind, but til then ive really nothing to hide. im surprised anybody was surprised the american govt was tapping phones. havnt we 'known' about this for 20 years or so? since the old gene hackman tele phreaker movies. NSA anyone? i thought it was commonly accepted knowledge shared by many a pub patron to another.
although im a big fan of documentaries and love to see them becoming more mainstream now, I sometimes feel directors would better spend their time teaching people how to read a book, or coaching dudes on how to get girlfriends. they could start with the michigan militia.
