its been a long wait for australia. 32 years after their last and only appearance, also in germany. Coach hiddinks abilities as a coach are essential to australia progressing to the knockout stage.

They are weak in defence with a back line that is slow and sometimes clumsy. The aim will be to pressure the opposition further up the park. They will look to win their first game again japan and its a fairly easy start. However, the speed of the japanese could give the back line some trouble, but australias superior firepower should mean a winning start.

Qualification could come down to their meeting with croatia, a hard game with a closely matched team - but one australia is more than capable of winning!
