Going on with the idiot theme, the Phillipines was named after King Phillip of Spain. Filipinos consider themselves more latin than asian, just our last names are a hodgepodge of portugese and spanish names. The original name for the Phillipines was "Islas de Filipinas". You can figure out now where Filipino came from, or not.
