No, you're not reading it wrong.
The applicant is obviously eccentric but that is expected when you are screening for that type of position. The employer should be prepared to properly deal with these types and usually, the best way is to let it go and not reply.
In this case, the matter was dealt with unprofessionally. The applicant doesn't know what she is going to get in return for exclusivity, therefore, the first email was incomplete and came off dismissive. The applicant reacted defensively and what does the employer do? Ignites the fire by trying to chastise her via email.
At the end, the applicant nailed her on it in her own bizarre way. That didn't sit well so she comes running to GFY to empower her in calling her a crazy bitch and a transsexual; real top notch management.
You're not interested in hiring someone, don't reply or refuse them politely. That's day 1 stuff.
