Sound only out of one speaker

I had this problem before and I brought it to the computer store -- they fixed it. I don't want to shell out another $100 to get it fixed.

Here's my problem:

I have Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers I just got replaced. I have it all configured and connected correctly to the PC but I only get sound out of one channel. If I reverse the cords the other speaker works -- this is not a hardware problem as far as I know of. The balance on the computer is in the middle.

This is the third time this happened (sound coming out of one speaker). The first time was when I just built the computer, second was after I shipped it.

Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

I use the Sound Blaster Audigy gamer card.
