I LOVE India, but this is a good warning to heed. While India is home to some of the friendliest, warmesr, and most accepting people on the planet (Hindu and Muslim alike), it is also home to some of the most creative and amazing scammers on the planet.
50% of the people you meet will help you out of the goodness of their heart because Hindus believe that a guest in the home is an incarnation of God and should be treated with respect.
50% of the people you meet realize they are desperate and starving and will do anything to survive. ANYTHING. That could be taking your wallet, that could be stealing your passport (happened to me), and I've never heard of it, but it could be flying you into a different country entirely and robbing you of EVERYTHING you have.
NOTHING IS FREE IN THIS WORLD.
