Yes for the money they will go through the motions, open the legs, stick a dildo or guy in. But creating the look that raises it from meat to a succulent dish is a little more demanding.

Well said, in fact.
I've found the best way of getting the most out of a model is simply keep the photoshoot easy-going and fun. Don't get too serious, but keep it entertaining and interesting. I chat with the models constantly between photos and setups...tell a few spontaneous jokes or stories, whatever.
