I had a similar thing several years ago. I had a friend who was very cool and a good guy when he didn't drink but when we went out and he got drunk he turnned into an asshole and would start shit with people and got in a fight once. after the fight we told him we would no longer go out with him if he was going to drink. He didn't belive us until we followed through with the threat. He set everything up one night and got all of use together and we asked if he was going to drink and when he told us yes we all told he we were going to stay home because he was too much of a dick when he drinks and we didn't want to be around that. He got pissed and went out on his own a couple of times and then eventually realized we weren't lying to him and curbed his drinking back.
