They do really work but they are very hard to stick to. If you are looking to lose weight and keep it off. The best way to do that is 3 to 5 days a week of at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular work that raises your heart rate and gets the blood pumping. This along with eating normally will drop your weight. Look to increase the amount of fruits and veggies that you intake daily.
