Still, it does motivate me some. I think of it this way: if I made an additional 50% (after tax) income, and put ALL of that extra into our (newish) home loan I could have it completely paid off within a few years.
The ironic thing is that if USD-AUD exchange rates were the same now as they were when I started in 2001 I would be making that 50% extra without even trying.

It still motivates me bigtime, all the great stuff you can do with extra money, but the kick you get from breaking new ground- and knowing you are capable of accomplishing what you set out to- that is a big motivator too.
I'm from AU too, I try not to think about the exchange rate thing anymore

Remember when 1USD=2AUD.. yeah, I was depositing $40 all advantage cheques in those days.
