You stick a bunch of young guys on patrols in areas where everyone hates them , and they are getting picked off 1 by 1 by snipers and roadside bombs, watching their friends get limbs blown off, and you over-react. You have to feel some sympathy for the soldiers too. perhaps they felt like they were at the end of their rope , and hoped by murdering some innocent civilians , the locals would be scared into not cooperating with the insurgents thus "SAVING' lives

I don't have sympathy for any murderer, regardless of the situation. Maybe they should not have signed up for the Military if they can't handle the harsh realities of war. No one has the right to start killing innocent people because things aren't going their way. Anyone involved should be put to death, just like any murderer.
