In most cases requires work and depends on your sponsors and the tools they offer. If a campaign ID is offered, you can use it to ID where the conversion came from. Some list the URL. ClickCash is a good example.
If you have a number of sponsors and are promoting them across a number of sites, it becomes a bit more of a challenge. You can look at traffic stats for each site and you can set up counters on traffic sent. In the end I think it becomes a matter of intuition a lot of times. Just like the sense you have when you think a sponsor is shaving. A lot of varibles at play and you have to grasp the whole picture somehow and come up with an opinion.
