It's funny & absurd, but also kinda scary to see the consequences of socially organized sexual suppression. We laugh at the Japanese for their little black boxes. But think how the world looks at us, with our shows like CSI and especially Law & Order SVU (where there is a guranteed rape in every episode, and a distatsteful [at least ro me] emphasis on the sexualization of female corpses and "victims" of various kinds). And because the schools are under court order not to teach sex education, and because the parents have their parentally inept fists shoved up their mouths, and because that leaves only Church and Television as "voices in", these kids are not getting healthily embarked into their sexuality. The censors are allowing sex to take all kinds of odd turns, within the context of a "crime", etc. Or said another way, they are squeezing every other kind of sex out. So there's forbidden porn on the one hand (which contains depictions of healthy sex), and then there's the obvious sexual "charge" of TV shows dealing with violent crimes, especially when they are deliberately eroticizing female victimization. Bad, bad, bad... and not so different from the effects we see in Japan. Sorry for the rant.
