Domain Forwarding for Affiliate

I have a pretty decent domain that fits a certain niche and I was wondering if there would be any benefit using it as a forwarding domain (directly to the sponsor's splash/sales page) instead of using it to develop a blog.

Does anyone do this? Thanks!

Google, I believe, frowns/penalties on re-directs unless it is the net, org, etc going to the com of the same domain. Make a blog, more productive.
