any pipe-smokers around? what is yer fav tobacco? just curious ... i used to smoke "sauced" tobacco but now i am keen on english/scottish blends (rattray's HAL O'THE WYND is so fucking yummy ... sweet virginia) ... haha, my pipe tobacco dealer is stunned about how much i buy every time ... any suggestions for good blends? tia

3P - Peterson's Perfect Plug, Chieftains Highland and Lowland Mixture, if you like something stronger try Cornell & Diehl "Billy Budd" - it's possible that you'll have to import it.

Rattray's Bagpiper isn't too bad either. enjoy

Oh, one thing I forgot about the Bagpiper's dream - it's really not an every-day tobacco... more like once every 4 - 6 weeks or so... but nice to have in the collection for diversity.

Also, if you like some really nice pipes for really moderate prices, I can recommend Mario Grandi from Italy.

my strongest one so far is Rattrays Marlin Flake which really makes me dizzy when smoked in higher quantities - obviously not an all day smoke

you roll your own tobacco? as in creating your own tobacco or rolling cigarettes?

well, pipe tobacco (even unsauced) has a much better taste and smell ... cigarettes are just - err - dry shit compared to good pipe tobacco ... and most ppl like the smell of pipe tobacco - hah, even in the non-smoker nation USA, ppl would say "yum, smells delicious" ... give it a try ...

hahaha, well, if you enhale when smoking pipe - ONE puff can be enuff ... at least to make ya cough big time once you got used to it you wont enhale much anymore ... but even without enhaling, a pipe can deliver more nicotine than a cigarette - and they last from 30 minutes to well over an hour of smoking time ... depends on the size of the pipe, the tobacco and how you stuff it

Give it a few more tries - maybe with a dedicated pipe for it - and you will find new nuances each and every time

Also - if you have a pipe (maybe even a Peterson) with a P-Lip (smoke travels up your palate instead of onto your tongue) you might want to try that one with the 3P.

well, i tried it in my rather new poul winslow crown of denmark, an eriksen (handmade in denmark - dedicated to pure tobacco) and i still didnt like it enuff to buy another chunk of it well, i have cut it up in 2mm cubes now and will let it rest for some weeks and try again then; some tobaccos really get better with ageing - some dont right now, when i need a strong smoke, i enjoy "marlin flake" - a bit milder than PPP but with a much more intense taste
