Petition to CCBill to turn Web Verify OFF
I know CCBill isn't client-friendly - they always promise to consider something, but never make it happen. Let's try this one. Maybe they need to lose some clients to have it done this time.
Please post here if you'd like to get that thing off since it hurts sales very hard. |

Problem is if they turn it off now and simply let those transactions be declined you will still be worse off assuming at the same time they came up with WebVerify they also tightened up the approval criteria otherwise (which I suspect based on what others are saying).
What I think is needed is an end to all the sneaky stuff. Scrub all sites and all affiliates the SAME regardless of volume, day of week, day of month, etc. If there is a problem with refunds or chargebacks then contact the site or affiliate in question and go from there. At least they will be aware of it. That's a lot better than having all your transaction scrubbed to the point where you are 1:20,000. If there is some sort of cap in place at any level be honest and upfront about it. No one seems to trust CCBill anymore to be upfront and that's a byproduct of all the perceived underhandedness in the scrubbing. It's a shame because CCBill is a fairly decent adult company. I've always received my check or wire and their support is professional and usually responsive. |

If you could opt in at CCBill to let EVERY sale go through without scrubbing, BUT you had to pay a fee every time a sale came back as a chargeback/stolen CC etc, would you take the risk?

CCBill is getting out of hands...sales have never been this bad...my traffic is still high, higher then before, but sales were at 0 in the last 2-3 weeks..this is getting frustrating...ccbill could blame the traffic I have...however...most of us know that it's not about the traffic at all...someone is doing something really bad, and that's not us, webmasters! you have my sign on this one!

Hi Everyone,
We are chiming in on this thread to help clarify a few things about our new "Web Verify" feature. We understand that we may not have done a good job explaining the exact functionality and intended purpose of the new feature. So, to help address your individual concerns, we offer the following Q&A. If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to either post them here or contact our support department directly. Question: Why was "Web Verify" developed? Answer: "Web Verify" was developed as a response to CCBill Client and Affiliate demand for softer fraud scrubbing and implemented to help improve transaction approval ratios. Question: Does "Web Verify" affect transaction approvals? Answer: Yes, customers who call in to manually verify their transactions after being declined by our normal signup system have an opportunity to push the transaction through. Question: Was the CCBill fraud prevention service, better known as VScrub, modified to be more strict after the "Web Verify" feature was released? Answer: No, we did not modify VScrub settings after releasing "Web Verify". Question: Has CCBill seen improvement with transaction approvals with fewer chargebacks and refunds? Answer: Yes, after releasing the "Web Verify" system we have approved thousands of transactions that would have otherwise been declined by VScrub. Question: Will removing the "Web Verify" feature improve transaction approvals? Answer: No, removing the "Web Verify" feature will hurt transaction approvals. We did not modify our original scrub settings within VScrub after releasing "Web Verify". Question Is CCBill considering giving clients the option to disable the "Web Verify" feature for their account? Answer Yes, after receiving negative client and affiliate response to "Web Verify" we are considering the option to disable the feature at the account level. However, "Web Verify" will remain active on all CCBill accounts until a decision is made to give CCBill Clients the option to disable the feature. .

I can't say my paysite declined increased recently but I can say my sales as affiliate for CCBill sites are really low. Which probably means I should stop promoting other paysites than my own.

How far did your affiliate sales drop this month? I have to admit that mine are within tolerance so far this month.

The worst fucking part of web verify is that you the merchant do not even get the courtesy, benefit, gesture, necessity, protocol, of a fucking ditto email.
If we did not have customers who wanted to speak with me so bad....that they contact me privately about this web verify thing....expressing displeasure and frustration about their transactions failing....how would we know we lost hundreds of dollars? Does anyone seem to understand this very very very significant factoid? Maybe the devil is in the details afterall......its my customer trying to buy a membership....my sales being affected....we merchants need those emails as well to improve upon our customer service. My questions are simple and direct... 1. Why have a web verify feature that asks customers to call and verify details only to have them waste more time, call and verify details only to still have transaction declined? 2. How hard would it be, and what valid reason could you possibly give to not give the ccbill client/merchant the email that shows his customers purchase was intercepted.....if you are not hiding anything why hide the fact from your clients that transactions were attempted and prevented by you? 3. Is their 1 merchant/client or hell even a souless spineless troll at this point.... Is there not anyone anywhere who will courageously go on record and post here that web verify has helped improve their ratios? anyone...someone....bueller? |
