Question on Backlinks/SEO

Lets say I have a master site that I want traffic to go to.
To that, I have 5 Joomla, new fed news sites linking to the master site.
To each of those 5 news sites, I have 2 to 3 wordpress blogs.

Then I buy backlinks.

Would it be better to make all of the backlinks point to the master site for two keywords, or break them up amongst the feeder sites?

Should all of the site be focused on the two primary keywords, or should each news site and its lower level feeder blogs be focused on a different keyword thats different from the master site?

I would say that you should do a combination of both. Break up the back links and toss them to the feeder websites so that those websites will gain more juice and in turn provide more link juice towards your main site. But you should also be continuing to give back links to your main site for the keywords that you are specifically trying to rank for. The more diverse of a link package you have the better it will appear in Google's eye.

For the feeder sites I would recommend that you stay within similar keywords or exact keywords, as relevancy is very important in ranking

Point all links you buy to your master site. With joomla and wp sites make links exchange ABC where C is your master site. Make sure your master site is well optimized internal and also make sure it has unique quality content - content is still the king.

I like how people still believe buying a backlink on a PR4+ site that says something like 'free porn' is the most significant thing they can do in SEO.

And keep something in mind, Google knows when you're linking through-out your own sites to pass on authority.

Some suggestions, separate accounts and billing accounts for every domain registered and different hosting accounts.

Anyways, people new to the game just don't understand the whole point of backlinks in-terms of how Google views them. In the good old days sites with high authority would only link to quality / relevant content, thus making it a key factor in search engine algorithms.

Well, that was common knowledge like a decade ago, Google's backlinking factors and how they pass down authority is at least 100,000 times more complex than what it used to be.

I do agree with the poster's comment above though - Content will always be king. If you have high quality relevant content that appeals to people who'd be willing to link to it 'organically', then stuffing 20 footer links across all your wordpress blogs and buying links on link farms won't have to be your saving grace.

The trick is, there are no tricks. Only optimization on pages that are truly relevant and of high quality. Go on the blackhat forums, I bet less than 1% earn more than $100k a year for all their efforts in trying to 'out smart' Google.

Back links are important but if Google sees you getting a whole bunch at one time it can do as much harm as good, especially if Google has already flagged the source as a link farm. Remember the ole saying "There ain't no free lunch" grow links back the old fashion way and you will be ok, little by little
