They shoulda just let cocaine alone in the beginning. lol

Sorry Robbie, 99% of the world can't get away with casually using coke, if that were true it would have never taken off... I find it very hard to believe that you haven't known people that have completely fallen apart from that alone. I've seen enough friends and family get ripped apart from it myself and I didn't exactly grow up in a hot spot for it.
Nope, been around the block a long time. Never knew people that "completely" fell apart from doing real cocaine. Even when I toured Peru in 1984 in my band and saw an entire country doing it. They lived their lives...just like people have done cocaine throughout history and did just fine.

And for your info it "took off" because people like it. Just like sugar "took off". And alcohol "took off". lol

I have known a lot of people who have had their lives destroyed by meth, crank, and any other name you want to give to synthetically produced speed.
Seen even MORE in recent years of people becoming addicted to and lives destroyed by prescription pills. (that's a real nasty mess).

Do SOME people like cocaine (not "crack", not any kind of speed but REAL organic cocaine) so much that they want to do it all the time? Hell yes!

Does EVERYBODY that does it want more when it runs out? Hell yes! That's how coke works. It gets you high for about 15 minutes and then you want another line.

But if your theory was right...then a LOT of people in this world would be ruined.
I'm not ruined.
Doctors, lawyers, cops, politicians, schoolteachers, and others that I have partied with here and there over the years aren't ruined.

It's a recreational drug.
Some people can't handle ANY kind of drug (alcohol, nicotine, coke, prescription pills) and go off the deep end.

But the vast, vast majority can and do.

That's all I'm saying.

I don't want to get into another drug argument with people on GFY since this is such a prudish and anti-drug crowd.

But I will say again that her skin is mostly cigarette smoking. Toss in a touch of not sleeping from too much partying and not eating healthy and you get that result.

She appears to me to be the type of person who needs to be a complete tee-totaler from EVERY form of partying in order to act correctly the next day.

Not everyone is like that. Most folks can have some fun on Friday night. Sleep in on Saturday. Do it again Saturday night. Sleep in on Sunday. And then get back to business on Monday and not touch ANYTHING all week.

Hell, I don't even have a beer all week long. I work. I take care of my family. I hit the gym every day.

Friday and Saturday nights? Play time! Not necessarily anything that you prudes wouldn't approve of. I mostly enjoy having a few drinks and gambling a bit, maybe hit the strip club or the swingers club.

Rarely do any kind of recreational drugs anymore. Not because I think it's "bad". But mostly because I want to make sure my cock works at the end of the night! lol

EDIT: By the way, I own a tanning bed right here in my office. When I'm not lying in the sun, I'm in the tanning bed. Have you ever met me in person? I don't look "aged" from tanning.
Some people have skin types that are bad for them if they tan. Lohan looks like that kind of girl for sure...fair skin, freckles. They turn into prunes in the sun. lol

With Lindsay I think it is a combination of a lot of things. I think her drinking, drugging and smoking combined with tanning and genetics have caused this. Look at her sister. By all accounts her sister doesn't drink or do drugs (that we know of) and she is 20 years old and often looks like she is 30. It could just be that the women in their family don't age well.

Well you said it, you get addicted. And from this quote it looks like very seriously. I mean everybody wants it more non stop (runs out and wants more).
This quote contradicts with what you say that they can be normal. How can you be normal if you want more at the very moment it runs out? Sounds like a non stop thing.

There is a differences though. A regular person can want more, but will either know when to stop or will be able to push those cravings to the side and move on with their lives. An addict will put everything in their life aside in order to get that drug.

I agree, however what he said (EVERYBODY will want more right after it is gone) sounds like it is really addictive. Like WAY more addictive than coffee, cigs or alcohol. And we know how many weak people get hooked on those. So with a higher craving for coke the number of addicted people should be way higher... And that does not correlate with the saying that almost nobody gets in trouble...

LOL! Yeah, you snort a line and 15 minutes later you want more. 5 minutes after that you're over it. You obviously have no experience.

Have you ever drank a beer? Did you want another one when you got done? It's kinda like that, except a bit stronger. But that's a TEMPORARY feeling. lol

What the fuck is up with all the people with absolutely no life experiences on this board?

I get it bro. You are "anti-drug". That's fine. But your concepts of how things work are way off.

Yeah, I've seen documentaries of them making cocaine paste...from coca leaves. I was really referring to shit that people make at home with drano and ephedrine and kitchen cleaning products.

On a side note...I was watching the History Channel and they showed the home where Pres. Ulysses S. Grant lived out his final days writing his memoir. And they showed a jar where he sipped his mixture of water and cocaine while he worked.

Also, for you history buffs...Coca Cola was sold over the counter with cocaine as it's main ingredient and it was also used in dentistry to numb your mouth for dental work.

Again, please don't try any EVIL recreational drugs if you are against them. Hell, you might be the kind of person who would become addicted. Me? I do as I please when I please and have enjoyed my life immensely so far.

I like to occasionally party with recreational stuff. I enjoy going out for cocktails.

I've had 4 former bandmates and close friends die of alcoholism. I've had 3 close family members die from cigarette smoking.
I played in bands professionally from 1978 to 1998 and traveled all over the country.

Played with over 200 different rock musicians in different variations of my bands. We played 7 nights a week, 5 sets a night.
A lot of hard partying and good times.

Out of that...I can honestly say that I only know one guy who became a "drug addict". And he was also an alcoholic and pretty much went overboard on everything he touched (alcohol, crack, coke...you name it, this fuckwad did it). We fired his ass because he was so undependable.

However, in that same time period...I did see many of those guys become alcoholics. And the majority of them smoked cigarettes like crazy too. So I'm guessing that many of them now have either cancer or heart disease at this point in their lives.

Anyway, that's what I have seen in my lifetime. I'm just glad I'm not trying to be in a road band in 2014 with the explosion of prescription drug abuse. That shit is highly addictive. And worst of all...the DOWNERS are the ones that are killing people.

Last thing I would need is somebody falling asleep while we're trying to work.

I'd rather have them wide awake and alert on cocaine as opposed to the heroin-like effects of loratabs, Oxycontin, etc.

well, that was my point. Many people can not control alcohol craving, they just can not stop because they want more. And you say that with cocaine that craving is stronger... So logically even bigger percentage of people (compared to alcohol "addicts") would have problems with it.. I agree that I speak from theoretical point of view, but doesn't this post of mine make logical sense?

Let me add a few quick comments from my own life experience. I partied very hard in the 1970s and 1980s, less so in the 1990s, and I've slowed way down since then. And yes, my crew abused the hell out of cocaine for many years.

Fortunately back then it was all about powder. Peruvian Pink was popular. Yes, it definitely makes you want more. Hell, there was a time that we used to judge how good a particular batch was by how far across town we'd be willing to drive at 4am to get more.

How much did I like it, how much did I do? Well, I can tell you I once handed my friendly coke dealer the keys to my matched pair of '62 Cadillacs (one lime green and one turquoise blue) while telling him to "just let me know when my credit's no good again." So, I guess you could say I did a good bit. And I wasn't the heaviest user in my crew by any means.

Here's my point. Most of the biggest partiers I knew from back then are alive and okay today. The ones who've passed died from accidents or in service. None of those alive had their lives destroyed or look 20 years older than they actually are. Most of them are settled down with families and don't do any of the things they used to do. A few are still sort of living the life, but they're healthy and doing what they want.

Is it a dangerous drug for those who have addictive personality types: yes, it's very dangerous for those people. But so are so many other things for them too. My circle never included people who couldn't exercise control when necessary (it was a requirement), but I saw how some others let it control their decisions in foolish ways.

But personally, one day I decided to quit doing cocaine. It was the same day I decided to quit smoking menthol cigarettes. I stopped both of them cold turkey nearly 30 years ago and haven't had a line or a cig since. So, if you don't have the kind of mental, emotional, chemical wiring that makes you more likely to become addicted, you can do a lot of things (no, not everything) and walk away whenever you want.

The map is not the territory.

P.S. I'd have fun with Lindsey. I knew a LOT of girls like her. Sure, she's rich and famous and all that. But inside there's a little girl who doesn't know how to get off the path she traded so much to be on. There's the packaged version, the public version, and then there's the lost, scared child who needs help.

c'mon she doesn't look that bad guys. Most women look like that when they wake up and haven't put on make up or do their hair. It won't take much for her to look hot again maybe a month of a proper diet and free from drugs/liquor. Her outfit contributes to looking blehhh.

But inside there's a little girl who doesn't know how to get off the path she traded so much to be on. There's the packaged version, the public version, and then there's the lost, scared child who needs help.

Can I tell you this amazes me - anecdotally of course I've known hundreds of "hard partiers" and real addicts, mostly as acquaintances but a few as friends, and despite odds and health that would easily kill you and me, they somehow come back and live and even prosper!

I know one guy who literally had the dirty shirt on his back 8 years ago, now he is a damn CIO of a midsized corp, clean as a whistle, and has a kid. How the fuck can you have no credit, no jobs for a 5 year period, and come back from that?

I know two alcoholics who committed suicide as a direct result of their alcoholism, but I've been acquainted with many more who have committed suicide for other reasons. I know a school teacher in NJ who was a complete and total meth addict. I stayed over at his house one night and he was screaming all night like they do. He is still alive, still teaching, after years of heavy use.

Either these hard partiers are more careful than they seem, or addiction isn't as bad as it seems, or I'm a weak douche and everyone else is tougher than me.

Is Lindsay Lohan Broke? How can she be broke?

Lindsay Lohan: How I blew $30 million

Lohan was worth an estimated $30 million. She earned her wealth from appearing in numerous blockbuster films: The Parent Trap, Freak Friday, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Mean Girls, and more. So where did all the money go?

Once the highest-earning actress of her generation with a net worth of $30 million, the Mean Girls actress, 24, who was ordered back to three months of rehab on Oct. 22, has been living beyond her means for the past three years ? squandering her fortune on, among other things, hotel bills, rehab costs and a carousel of legal fees.

?She indicates she cannot afford to continue to pay for the treatment program and she needs to work,? says Lohan?s probation report, with Forbes magazine reporting in 2007 the actress had earned only $3.5 million that year.

In that year of spending dangerously, Lohan reportedly blew $7.5 million, including $1 million on her hotel bill for LA?s Chateau Marmont (she resided there in 2005-06), $350,000 on luxury cars, another million on clothes, $70,000 on tanning and hairstyling and over $500,000 on partying.

?I was 18, 19, with a ton of money,? Lohan told October?s Vanity Fair, ?and no-one really here to tell me that I couldn?t do certain things ? And I see where that?s gotten me now, and I don?t like it.?

With her estimated net worth for 2010 a paltry $105,000, in September Lohan hired Britney Spears? financial manager, Lou Taylor, to help sort out her mess.

But according to Dr Lee Sadja, who dealt with Lohan during her stay at the Betty Ford Clinic, the actress needs to regain her health before she can improve her bank balance. ?There was some denial regarding her drug addiction,? he wrote in her probation report. ?[Lohan] needs to continue to work on her issues in order to save her life.?

Simon you pretty much hit it on the head.

The majority of people have some REALLY wild times when they are young (or course I'm not talking about the holier-than-thou angels of GFY). Then they slow down as they get older and wiser.

It's shocking to me that so many here on GFY have zero experience doing much of anything in life. Maybe they just live vicariously through video games or something? lol

And "NO" mineistaken...you know damn well that I didn't mean drug use = life experience.
Life experience = life experience. And I'm obviously a lot more experienced than you are in a lot of things.

And speaking from experience I can tell you that Simon's post is spot on.

Or as Keith Richard's said in his book "Life", about cocaine... "I finally quit cocaine, or I should say it quit me"

I remember reading an interview with the late great Peter O'Toole (died at age 81). He nearly killed himself in his younger years from alcohol. When he finally quit that, he took up cocaine as his drug of choice.

In the interview I read with him, he said he quit doing blow when he was 65 because it didn't look right for an old guy to be doing it. lol
