If you go with multiples listed here would there be a lot of useless overlap? Or would you just likely multiply your traffic by each one you get?

Our skimmed traffic at www.buyfpctraffic.com is similar to TH, but we have a different set of publishers, so little overlap.

I don't use traffic brokers. I have long maintained that traffic that converts isn't for sale. If it is, you can't afford it.

People who try to convince you otherwise have something to gain by convincing you to buy traffic (ie they are a traffic broker or are sporting an affiliate link).

If someone found traffic that converts and they were able to buy it and make a profit, why would they tell you what a great deal it is? Surely they know that demand drives prices. If the demand for the profitable traffic they are buying goes up, so will the price they pay for that traffic.

I understand your train of thought, but unfortunately it just isn't true.

If my traffic didn't convert, how come I've been able to sell it for the past 15 years? Some buyers have been buying continuously for the past 10 years. And these are smart companies with full-time media buyers and traffic analysts on staff.

It's really all about division of labour - some people/organizations are good at traffic generation, others are good at conversions.

After spending some time on GFY you should realize many here fall into the following:

1. Not very educated in business.
2. Doing this for fun/hobby/extra cash.
3. Somehow make money but not sure how. (See 1).

So if they don't have the time, patience or know how to get something converting. They can just sell to an exchange and get back to the thing they do know how to do, which is post booby pics of girls on blogs.

Hope that explains it.

I have definitely been a #2 for a few years. (HA!) I'm now at a place in my life where I want/need a career change, and short of going back to school (ugh) or jumping in at the ground floor of something completely new (at 46, ugh), I decided to work with what I had and start making a real go of it.

I bought the little micro-sites I helped a friend start with my "For Dummies" book knowledge of php, and began to use them in tandem with the amateur content I'd produced (getting steadily better when I look back at my catalog) and "dad n son" niche live shows.

In July, Adult brought in 1/3 of my income. August sucked, but August always just sucks. September is off to an OK start.

I wouldn't mind at all partnering with someone more established in order to reach my goal of quitting my day job by Thanksgiving. The idea of converting my best-known but still little-known site into a subscription site is my best idea, but given the state of subscription sites and my limited resources, it's more than a little daunting.

I apologize for straying from the topic, but you did ask for replies, so here it is. If anyone has any feedback (especially in Tampa Bay), I'd love to hear from you. But I'll un-hijack the thread. Private message me.
