I like this part:

Quote:
As a long-time producer and director, Mr. Rowntree has experienced the hugely damaging effects of porn piracy first-hand. When people share and view adult entertainment without paying for it, “it’s horrible for the performers, for the studios, for everybody,” Mr. Rowntree said. Though he acknowledges that chasing illegal online porn distributors will “always be a cat and mouse game,” he’s certain that Boodigo has “done a very good job at identifying the illegal tube sites.”

“They’re basically just blacklisted from ever getting into the search results,” he said.

If Colin is involved, it must be good.

It's about time Google started facing increased competition.

It's impossible to become a Google competitor nowadays. Unless you have your own browsers, toolbars and stats systems like Google Analytics

search Boodigo on their site and it comes up 7th . Try to search anything you would usually get some kind of ranking on any other search engine and it does not seem to show .

Yup, impossible to compete with Microsoft back when they controlled so much of the home computing market that they were sued for antitrust.
Oh wait, apple and Samsung wrecked much of that flawed assumption....
What goes up, must come down.

Google is making some massive mistakes lately. One company won't replace them but they have gotten into too many markets and made too many enemies. Search censorship, content piracy, privacy issues, pissing off book publishers, angering data carriers... I'd be very unwilling to buy their stock as a long term play and there is a lot of room for competitors.

Will boodigo own half the market? Unlikely. Could it take 5% of the market? Absolutely. What's 5% of Search worth in 2014?

SE business is a very different story. You can not generate relevant SERP's without having a trusted ranking mechanism. Google uses their spy tools like Chrome and Google Analytics to determine the site popularity/rating. All those other methods that analyze backlinks don't work anymore because they can be easily tricked by SE spammers. So if you don't have enough resources to harvest user activity info directly from their personal computers (Chrome) and websites (Google Analytics), you can't make a good SE which will make any competition to Google

Duckduckgo.com is a really good SE on it's own.

People call it duck for short, so not so long ago I typed Duck.com and guess what, it redirects to Google!

Whois shows duck.com domain has been bought by google, no level those bastards at google won't sink to, even borderline cybersquatting a much smaller site. and all while non-stop pontificating their self-righteous crap to other webmasters.

Well I really think if there was a search engine for porn, it should be a 100% graphic or video search, I mean, text is so 1990 and its hard to connect the fantasy of a keyword with just reading texts result and clicking every one of the link trying to seek for what you wanna jerk off.

You assume Google will remain relevant in adult. That may not be the case for much longer. They have already dropped adult adwords, censored adult content on major keywords and made moves toward 'sterilizing' their results.

An engine for adult may be just in time, and the data you are talking about is not that hard to get from adult-specific sources if they make some smart moves.

That already exists, it's called Bing, and it allows video search to pirate content from thousands of sites for Bing to generate traffic in its own interface. It's not a good business model for anyone other than the engine itself.

Also, if anyone wants to post up some known keyword searches for stolen or illegal content, we'd love to get them to add to our "bad words" database that is ramping up now for preventing results for known piracy sites.

Who would have known that the word "forum" is codeword for torrent and fileshare sites!

Best Regards,
Colin

That's actually driven by a nifty relationship with http://www.iafd.com/ who provides us with performer bio info and a photo based on keyword searches by users typing in searches for porn stars. The link goes over to http://www.iafd.com/ page for that performer, (in Max Hardcore's case, here http://www.iafd.com/person.rme/perfi...x-hardcore.htm ) with links to their websites, social media, etc.

now if only all adult websites gently reminded its surfers what a bunch on cunts Google really is and that there IS an alternative, how quickly would Google stop shafting us? After all, porn and porn surfers must make up at least 1/3 to a half of all web traffic and if they started sloping off to another SE, would Google start taking notice?.

There's around 37,000 porn piracy sources and around 1000 porn piracy sites. Blocking those from an entire index is not difficult stuff.

What I am criticising is that they are heralding this as a piracy free search engine yet have not gone to the trouble of identifying the worst piracy sites and just blocking them from the index.

If anyone from the project wants access to our API to have a live list of piracy source sites and piracy sites then we'll be happy to provide it to them.

I agree with the 2 posters above. I made a few searches at boodigo and lost focus immediately because I can't visually preview. We search pics and videos there, not wikipedia articles.

Talk to me on that, AK!
This would be very helpful.

We pretty quickly discovered that a ton of piracy sites were slipping in under the radar and your database sounds like a great solution.

Best regards,
Colin

If I want to search for scenes of a specific porn star, I google her name with the word "porn" directly after. It filters extraneous stuff pretty well.
