Anyone got a 4K TV? How is the upscaling?

Thinking of getting one - My input would be 1080i (From my Sat box)

Think it will make much of a difference or not?

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/s_actio...-10029491.html

It would be the one on the left, as the other doesn't upscale

Please dont say 'Go Bigger' as a max of 42" is a big as I can go, to fit where it needs to be fitted...

What yah reckon?

We're still using our 42 plasma but, the 4k led are amazing. The colour, the intensity of the colour & the clear, the remarkable clear picture is terrific. Well worth a test drive, head into one of your local stores & check them out

I got a TV that cost me 4K, if that's what you mean.

A 22 inch Sony. Bought it new in 1997. Wanna buy it? :D

There only so few 4k movies out there to fully enjoy the TV's potential.
You're money is better spent on a 4k display for your computer.

I would wait a year or 2, price will come down by 50% by then, and you will actually be able to get some 4k content to enjoy on it...

4K screens are of no use for now. With time prices will go down, 4k content will go up.

Totally true! We bought an LCD 32 Panasonic for over £1300, after just 2 years, bought a Sony 42 plasma for £700!

Hi Sober...

If I were you I would wait another year or at least 6 months. Prices are dropping as they normally do, and since there's no 4k content yet, the money you spend today is kind of wasted.

We're in the process of building our house and I've been doing some research for things like home theatre wiring, and found out that things like HDMI over Ethernet may not support 4k TV's. If you So if you plan to place your TV further away from your gadgets like AV, DVR, Xbox etc, check to see that your setup supports 4K first.

I bought a top of the line Sharp 80 inch flat screen less than a year ago. Had the chance to go with a 4K, but I don't like to buy the 1st generation of anything. I also know there is no content out there for it and there is nothing coming out for a while.

One thing I noticed with these new 1080p HD TVs, is that the picture quality was so clean and so sharp that my TV shows didn't look the same in a way that the shows looked not real. As if I shot them with one of my cameras. The show I 1st saw was Hawaii 50.

The quality was super sharp, really good and I got used to it after a week and more than happy with my purchase.

Now for 4k: I can imagine how sharp and clean that image is going to look. Its going to be so sharp that your going to see the details in a bad make up job or the the details of a bad make up effects job in a horror movie.

The Japanese Godzilla is going to look like a man in a rubber suit stomping on models if its upscaled to 4K.

Im not a fan of moving into 4k today, but I will move into 4K when I can buy movies in 4K.

I have the Seiki 4k 39". It's a cheap $500 monitor. The refresh rate of 30 Hz is really annoying. You don't notice it in movies but when trying to movie the mouse it really slows you down. Additionally, the color quality is absolutely horrible. We're starting to see better options. With Apple's new 5K iMac they are going to have to drop the price of the higher end 4K monitors. It's probably not worth it if you are only going to upscale. Unless you have a specific need for 4K wait until better options come out and just get a good 1080p for much cheaper.

Upscaling one pixel to four pixels is going to be shit. They will be inventing 75% of the image.

Wait until there is 4k content available.
