Tech Tracking an affiliate link back to an affiliate

Can anyone recommend how to track an affiliate link back to an affiliates domains?
Short story, I want to find out who a particular affiliate is.

We have a case of an iframe hack. I've reported it to the sponsor. Have documented it.
I am just curious as to what other sites that affiliate id sits on. Thanks.

After a reasonable amount of time, your affaire should constitute a key to the door (To Enable LATE NIGHT' liaisons...)

At this point (Poss 6 months later) you can pop in, and instead of fucking his wife... CHECK HIS PC Instead...

Sounds silly but you may be able to bing or google the id part of the affiliate link and it may show some results of what you are looking for, its worth a shot

this is it and works pretty well, or you can use some reverse things to find out more have luck

Thanks. So far it just takes me to the intended sites billing page and some non related Uk sites. Thats with Bing. Let e try Google now.

Still checking if anyone knows anything. Looks like the iframe hosted by the sponsor had the other affiliate code inserted. They also killed my affiliate codes in the iframe/

Other than that I have not heard of anyone doing this. Have you checked your top referrers on your server stats and then try and match up some ID's?

Check the sponsor inbound links with a tool like ahrefs and crosscheck affiliate link codes. Find other links coming from same source. The other possibility would be a reverse dns check on one or more of the link sources to find other websites on same box. Cross check them for reverse data ...

Already contacted that sponsor about the hack/issue?

They would have all that affiliate's info to act on. They won't tell you anything specific but they should be concerned enough to investigate the circumstances of the "hack" and if determined true:

To close that affiliate's account and forfeit his earnings -- that is a standard affiliate termination forfeiture action cause ... It's in the contract "fine print."

If its an iframe the code was injected to their site right?

Our source code pages seem fine and links are normal on other pages of the dame site. Just this one page, with "girls live now" has the other affiliates code in it.

Out of the blue I have been contacted by another affiliate, same program, interested to know if I am looking for domains to buy. Hmmmmm.

Shouldn't we be getting a piece of that affiliates payouts when they terminate him?
Seems fair as we do convert the program...in two languages.

In a perfect world yes. In reality probably not. It really depends on the amount at question: A hack -- ( $100, no. $1,000 or more yes?) A sponsor error -- yes if the sales can be accounted for.

A frame is a separate page within a page but they can be cross scripted.

Open the URL of that frame and see the link codes -- if they are the 'bogey' the code is being sourced from the sponsor URL code usually. Is the link code the correct one? Not some typo ...

If the link code is the right one and you are getting the wrong affiliates ID it is most likely a database error at the sponsor or possibly a hack on that domain.

If you use the same link code to generate the frame on another domain (better on another server or localhost) do you get the same error?

This goes to determining the error's source:

your code
your server
the sponsor's server (the source of the frame)

Get all your ducks in a row first -- eliminate the possibilities one by one, methodically.

Someone suggested might be cookie stuffing. But, maybe not.

So we changed our site passwords, logged into the affiliate site and re-copied the iframe data.
Put it on a blank html page on our desktop and the bogey affiliate still shows up.
It seems it must be at sponsor level. Its a well known cams site.

Its the bogus code. I've asked them to check it. Waiting for a response.
Its weird/pisses me off that out of 5 links in the iframe all with my code are disabled, the only active code is the bogus code. You click a link with my code and it goes nowhere.

I'm wondering if this is just my site or if it is widespread with the sponsor. I am assuming it is with anyone using that iframe sitting on that particular server. They probably have tons of servers.

I am trying to be objective about this but I cannot sit as Judge and Jury of, an as far as I know, reputable competitor. I am going to "recuse" myself from further findings or discussion and recommend you discuss this matter privately with DTI ...

We have submitted a couple of tickets and I emailed Leroy about it. yesterday or day before.

With the help of one of the finest affiliate managers in the biz we discovered no hack had taken place but a technical error on DTI side while they were improving their tech. It was an accident and no harm no foul as LeRoy generously gave us 30 days worth of PPC sales for only 7 days lost revenue using a specific tool.

I have to say in this business where its harder and harder to find an honest affiliate program, DTI and LeRoy came through for us. I will gladly and actively promote DTI products until they close down the dark interwebs!

We make money with DTI in Japanese and English. With a little thought, you can too. See sig, yes, whores moment but hey, I KNOW you can earn with DTI and LeRoy clearly demonstrated they are a group you can trust with your traffic!
